Facial Esthetics with PRF

According to Forbes, the beauty industry is half a trillion dollar a year business. A large part of that industry is directed toward skin rejuvenation i.e., improved skin quality, tightening & collagen stimulation. The demand for more organic rejuvenation treatments is growing! More and more patients are turning to non-surgical injection treatments that can stimulate their own collagen and elastin production to create a more youthful, natural emollient look. Platelet-rich fibrin or PRF is the newest generation of platelet therapy for cosmetic enhancement.

Did You Know…

Dr. Gregory J. Young has been using PRF in his dental implant practice since 2012. It was primarily used to enhance tissue healing in the mouth, around extractions and implant placement.

What is PRF?

Platelet rich fibrin is what we extract from the patient’s blood. We are able to take a few vials of blood from a simple blood draw, spin it down in a centrifuge, and then we extract and utilize several growth elements.

Who is a good candidate for treatment?

Most people that are over the age of 30 are good candidates for treatment. By that age, we begin to lose volume in our faces under our eyes, in our cheeks, and around our mouths. Later on, in our 40’s and 50’s, due to the loss of collagen, elastin and muscular tonicity, changes are noticeable on our faces. PRF can stimulate collagen production, tighten loose skin and add volume back to the face. Depending on the extent of facial changes that have occurred, a combination of PRF with dermal fillers and Botox may be necessary to achieve the desired results.

How long does it last?

The initial therapy with PRF is three to four (3-4) sessions spaced six to eight (6-8) weeks apart. Each session is a combination of injections and microneedling. This allows us to get the PRF into the superficial and deeper layers of the face. Each session is approximately 30-40 minutes. Volumization increases immediately and dissipates over the next three to four (3-4) weeks. Long term effects of volumization, skin quality and collagen production show up three to four (3-4) months later-after the new collagen production increases and can last one or more years.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a high tech medical grade device that leaves microscopic holes in the skin, which allows us to transport PRF into the tissue.

Microneedling with PRF

The combination of Microneedling with Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is an advanced skin care treatment that represents the gold standard of natural skin rejuvenation. Microneedling with PRF is a non-invasive, quick, and comfortable skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates skin cell renewal, as well as initiates collagen and elastin production. As a result, it improves skin’s tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, while also decreasing brown spots, acne scars, under eye bags, and dull, tired looking skin. Microneedling with PRF is FDA approved and requires little recovery time, making it the ideal treatment for individuals who desire a younger appearance without the need for surgery or excessive downtime.

Benefits of Microneedling

  • Natural skin rejuvenation
  • FDA approved
  • Scientifically proven
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Safe for various types of skin
  • Increases production of collagen and elastin
  • Renews skin cells and repairs skin
  • Results in younger, more vibrant skin
  • No need for harsh chemicals or lasers
  • Advanced delivery system of PRF

How does Microneedling work?

Microneedling works through a process known as controlled wound healing. During
Microneedling treatment, tiny microscopic wounds are made in the skin by tiny, medical grade
needles. Although these tiny micro-wounds do not damage the skin, they initiate what is known
as a ‘wound healing cascade’. During a wound healing cascade, circulation is increased, growth
factors are released, and more cells and collagen are produced to aid in healing. The result is
plumper, more radiant skin.
